New Head of Public Affairs at Scania

22 FEBRUARY 2021

Jennie Cato has been appointed Head of Public Affairs at Scania. In Cato’s new role, she will develop and implement activities for decision-makers, society and influencers, all the while nurturing relationships and ensuring Scania’s position as a trusted partner in driving the sustainable transport agenda.

Cato will initiate and build long-term collaborations through coalitions and partnerships, as well as provide strategic counsel. She will report to Chief Communications Officer Camilla Dewoon. “Jennie is extremely qualified to take on the role as Head of Public Affairs for us. She has a profound understanding of how political decisions are made, and how and where to network and influence. She also has vast experience from international cooperation, something that will be valuable as we shape a clearer communications strategy. I trust she will be a great asset in our transformation journey to a supplier of sustainable transport solutions,” says Dewoon.

Cato  brings 20 years of experience working across tech and engineering-driven environments, strategic business development, as well as climate, energy and sustainability policy roles oriented towards both Sweden and the EU.

“I am so much looking forward to joining Scania in these times of disruptive technology shifts, and to contribute to the journey towards a better world,” says Cato.

Cato began her career as a Strategic Business Developer at Fortum, and after a few years joined the Swedish Energy Agency, where she took on high-level G2G collaboration and strategic EU issues, among other responsibilities. She now leaves her current position as Head of Industrial Policy, Trade and Sustainability at The Association of Swedish Engineering Industries, which she has held since 2014. Cato graduated from Lund University with an MSc. in Civil Engineering. She will be based at Scania’s head office in Södertälje.
